Marina Emden

Marina Emden is located in the seaport with the same name, on the river Ems in Lower Saxony. Its location is on the northern side of Dollart bay, a natural border between the Netherlands and Germany. Thanks to its placement at the border, visitors can travel very quickly to the nearby Dutch city of Delfzijl where they can witness the second largest sailing event in The Netherlands called Delfsail. Back in Emden travellers can enjoy a wide variety of boat sports thanks to the presence of Ems River and that of various small rivers and canals or visit the unique Kesselschleuse, a circular chamber lock connecting four waterways, the only one of its kind in Europe. Mills were a great part of Emden history and have now become landmarks in the area, some dating almost 3 centuries. Gourmands can indulge in having fresh fish from the Wadden Sea, such as herring and shrimps, prepared with local recipes and usually smoked and can accommodate in private rentals that can host a large number of tourists.
