Port Allen Small Boat Harbor, Kauai, United States

Port Allen Small Boat Harbor is located on the southern coastline of Kauai on the east shore of Hanapepe Bay. Close by is Salt Pond beach named for its traditional Hawaiian salt collecting ponds. The waters here are especially good for swimming since the beach is protected by an outside reef. On the island’s south shore, you’ll find the historic sugar plantation in Koloa Town and the resort area of Poipu, with long stretches of golden sand beaches. Poipu Beach Park is a popular with swimmers and snorkelers, and also has a surf break over a reef for experienced surfers. From December through May, it’s not uncommon to see humpback whales spouting off shore. Shipwreck Beach is another local favorite for surfing and the starting point of Mahaulepu Heritage Trail, a great hike to explore the coastline. The Spouting Horn blowhole is one of the most photographed spots on Kauai. The Poipu surf channels into a natural lava tube here and releases a huge spout of water during large swells.
