Split’s jewel is the Unesco Heritage Site – Diocletian’s Palace, one of the world’s best-preserved Roman vestiges. Located in the proximity of the sea, the palace was a former military fortress. Inside its walls, people can roam around freely, take photos, admire the architecture or have a coffee at a bar. This is not the typical museum-like palace, which makes it one of the best gathering places in Split. On the narrow streets of the ancient fortress walls, packed with shops, cafés and restaurants, and even apartments, you will get a real feel of Split’s spirit.
