Leros è un piccolo paradiso verde di un'isola della Grecia nel Dodecaneso, situato a sud di Samos ea nord di Kos, con una popolazione di 8000 abitanti. Secondo la mitologia, l'isola di Leros era dove la dea Artemide andava a caccia, dato che aveva una ricca popolazione di cervi.
Nonostante il fatto che l'isola sia stata a lungo controllata dal turismo nazionale e globale, gli ultimi 20 anni di Leros sono diventati il luogo più amato da molti stranieri e da turisti greci che hanno trovato qui un vero paradiso alla luce del fatto che l'isola ha i suoi attributi particolari, unici nel suo genere, cultura e architettura ed è incontaminata dal turismo in gruppo. Leros è un'isola lussureggiante, piena di vegetazione, in contrasto con una grande porzione del Dodecaneso o delle Cicladi, in quanto la maggior parte delle isole è aspra e secca. Puoi vedere chiaramente la distinzione mentre il traghetto entra nella baia di Laki o nella remota possibilità che tu stia accompagnando l'aliscafo da Kalymnos a Leros. La natura avanza gradualmente avvicinandosi a Leros, con una spettacolare vista panoramica sulle baie di Vromolithos e Panteli e successivamente entrando nel porto di Agia Marina nella baia di Alinda. Colline affascinanti, che sembrano splendidamente guarnite con Eucalipto, Pini e Tamaris, piccole spiagge riposte in piccoli anfratti, un'oasi per gli stranieri che richiedono qualcosa di diverso da quello che ci si aspetta dalle comuni isole dei viaggiatori come Creta, Rodi, Kos, Cefalonia, Corfù, Mykonos o l'isola vulcanica e la maggior parte romanzo di tutta Santorini.
Leros ed i suoi parenti hanno mantenuto il loro colore locale intatto dal turismo d'occasione. L'isola di Leros è famosa per i suoi tradizionali mulini a vento e per i pittoreschi villaggi. Molti vecchi mulini a vento sono stati restaurati in hotel e offrono un'ottima sistemazione. Negli ultimi anni, Leros si sta sviluppando come destinazione per le immersioni subacquee.
Un punto di riferimento degno di nota, Il castello medievale di Pandeli a Leros, è una forte fortezza medievale che domina la capitale di Leros. Conosciuto anche come il Castello di nostra Signora, che significa il Castello della Vergine Maria, è un piacere per molti turisti ’ occhi. Nel corso degli anni, questa fortezza bizantina, che sopravvive bene fino ad oggi, è diventata il marchio di fabbrica dell'isola. Il castello offre una splendida vista del paesaggio montuoso sopra, il mare e gli incantevoli villaggi dell'isola di Leros. Un altro punto di riferimento importante è il Museo di guerra di Leros, del Dodecaneso, inaugurato nel 2005. Il museo si trova a Lakki e costituisce una dimostrazione delle armi di demolizione di massa e perdita di vite umane nella seconda guerra mondiale. Leros fu visto come un passaggio del Mediterraneo e fu per la prima volta sotto il regime fascista italiano per 31 anni, nel mezzo del quale gli italiani avevano creato basi marittime chiave sull'isola.
Per coloro che cercano il divertimento e la vita notturna energica, Leros ne ha uno estremamente affascinante. Bar e night club con musica greca e straniera, ristoranti con musica folk dal vivo e canzoni tradizionali locali, Lerika tiene i viaggiatori fino a tarda notte e frequentemente fino all'alba ad Agia Marina, Panteli, Alinta e Lakki, l'ultimo dei quali ospita anche un cinema. Oltre a questo, molte canzoni locali di Leros sono tra le più famose musiche tradizionali (nisiotika) della Grecia. I più acclamati sono Pote tha'nixoume pania, Mes tou Aegeou ta nisia e Proutzos. Lerikos è il nome di una danza locale che incanta e abbaglia i visitatori ogni volta, rendendo questa regione della Grecia una destinazione vibrante e melodica.
