Port de Bonifacio, also known as Capitaneria Port de Plaisance Bonifacio or Port de Bonifacio is located in the village with the same name, on the island of Corsia, in the department of Corse-du-Sud. It is the largest commune in Corsica and one of the most wonderful places on this side of the coast, that were designed by Mother Nature itself.
Bonifacio is a privileged port of call situated at the very heart of the principal sites of the nature reserve of the delta of Bonifcio, the nature reserve of Tre Padule de Suartone and the land belonging to the coastal conservation society and the Maddalena archipelago national park. It is bordered by Figari and Porto-Vecchio and it represents a major tourist attraction all year round.
The ancient cave of Araguina-Sennola and the chambered tomb of Vasculacciu are two of the archaeological evidence that prove previous’ civilisations existence. Tourists will be fascinated by these sights, as well as by the Citadel of Bonifacio, which is a historical masterpiece. Fantastic, steep cliffs and clifftop buildings can be seen from off-shore and visitors who are passionate about history will be delighted by the two Genoese towers in the area. This idyllic spot on the Mediterranean coastline must be explored in detail.
What makes Port de Bonifacio unique
Situated on the southern-most tip of Corsica, Bonifacio is truly an open-air museum. The port, dominated by the old town and citadel of Bonifacio, has succeeded in preserving both its social and cultural identity, and has a unique charm and lively atmosphere that’s hard to match.
All year round you can visit unique historical monuments, more than 20 sandy beaches and enjoy exceptional scenery, be it on land or under the sea. Hemmed in by a bottleneck and protected by its cliffs, Bonifacio port is a reference for stop-overs in the Mediterranean and every year more than 10 000 boats put in at the port.
The stunning majesty of the scenery of this singular and heavenly location, at the heart of the Bonifacio Straits International Marine Park, never fails to impress.
