SMM Hamburg

SMM Hamburg

SMM Hamburg, the leading international trade fair for shipbuilding, machinery and marine technology, takes place this year from 6-9 September. The program this year includes a series of conferences and workshops and more than 2,100 international exhibitors.

The first day of SMM Hamburg is dedicated to alternative energy sources and green technologies, this year’s theme of the Global Maritime Environmental Congress. Key players in the industry will speak at the three panels, focused on sustainable and eco-friendly development.

Another event is the International Conference on Maritime Security and Defense, where participants will discuss the security of international seaways and maritime infrastructure, the deployment of naval forces in international crisis operations, digital security and new trends in naval and green technology. The conference is usually attended by global delegations from navies and coastguards as well as industry representatives.

Apart from these two conferences, there will be an Offshore Dialogue on day three – a discussion about the effects of digitalization and the underwater technologies – and a Career Market on day 4. Additionally, the first edition of the Maritime Future Summit is held one day before the fair starts, on September 5, showcasing the latest developments in automation, digitalization and data management.

To make things easier for visitors, the exhibition halls are divided in four themed areas: Digital Route – showcasing the latest real-time information, centralization and networked sensor systems –, Green Route – offering alternative solutions to the industry’s challenges –, Security Route – focused on military applications, crew protection, piracy, cyber-attack and port security – and Job Route – a job fair attended by top companies in the maritime industry.

Southampton Boat Show

Each day on the Festival Stage there will be fashion shows and live music, as well as other activities like cooking demonstrations and a world record attempt. This year the organizers plan to enter the Guinness World Record with the largest human image of a boat. To this end, they’re looking for 400 participants to wear colored ponchos and stand in a large outline of a boat for five minutes.
