Port De Plaisance is located on the southern coast of Réunion, in the commune of Saint Pierre, just a few steps from a long sandy beach named Alize Plage. An interesting fact about Saint-Pierre, the island’s third largest commune: it’s the capital of the French Southern and Antarctic Lands. The waterfront and the central area are very lively, with many restaurants, casinos, and nightclubs. The influence of the East India Company and the sugar cane trade is evident in the architecture of the town hall, the prefecture and the gendarmerie. The town is close to Cascade de Grand Galet, a series of falls of varying heights, with a natural pool that’s popular as a swimming place. Nearby beaches include Etang Salé, a volcanic beach extending over 1.5 kilometers and Grand-Anse with its white sand and coconut trees. From Saint-Pierre you can easily reach the scenic village of Cilao with lovely panoramic views of the mountain range.
