Hafen Maasholm is a marina in Maasholm municipality in the Region of Schleswig Holstein on the northern bank of Schlei inlet. The port is sheltered by the estuary and is an excellent location for trips on the bay to Schleswig or to the Danish Islands and also a paradise for water sports enthusiasts. Maasholm is located at the northern edge of Wikinger-Friesen-Weg, an 180 kilometre long bike path starting at Sankt Peter-Ording in North Friesland district of Schleswig Holstein. Ten miles south on the inlet lies the city of Kappeln where tourists can visit the Harbour Museum and Schlei Museum dedicated to fishing in the area or the herring fence, one of the last spots in Europe where this fishing method is still used. The bascule bridge separating Angelner and Schwansener shores is one of Kapplen’s principal sights.
