Marina Baltica, Schleswig Holstein, Germany

Marina Baltica is situated on the left bank of Trave, close to the south side of Lubeck Bay in Travemunde, Schleswig Holstein Region. Found 600 metres from Trave estuary, the marina is protected by winds, and offers a safe haven for boats and yachts. It’s a great location for trips to the Bay where water sports can be practised and also longer journeys to the Baltic Sea and to neighbour country of Denmark. Travemunde’s origins are those of a fortress built by Henry the Lion, Duke of Saxony in the 12th century with the purpose of defending the mouth of Trave River. In present day, the borough has a seaside resort status and offers visitors some attractions such as Germany’s Baltic coast oldest lighthouse, almost 5 centuries old or the ship museum Flying-P Liner Passat, one of the last windjammers in existence. Event lovers should know that Travemunde hosts the second largest sailing event in Germany, after Kiel Week and also an annual sand festival called Sand World.
