Quai de trois rivières

Quai de Trois Rivières is located in the south of Basse-Terre Island, near the ferry terminal of Trois Rivieres. This charming rural community was founded in 1645 but before that it was inhabited by Arawak and Carib people. The most important concentration of pre-Colombian ruins in the Lesser Antilles can be found in the area. Hiking trails up the Soufriere volcano lead to two popular waterfalls: Chute du Carbet and the Cascade aux Ecrevisses. You can also try climbing to the summit, rappelling or a jeep safari. Deshaies Bay is the most beautiful marina of Basse-Terre, a popular port of call for sailors and yachters making roads in the Caribbean. You will find pavilions of all nationalities and restaurants lined up on the water front. Pigeon Island was brought to international attention by Jacques Cousteau who declared it one of the world’s top dive areas. Apart from the rich fauna and flora, divers can discover a few shipwrecks that were purposefully immersed around the island.
