Marina Porec is located in Istria.
The Croatian peninsula called Istria is located between the Trieste Gulf and the Kvarner Gulf. The identity of this region is very hard to define, giving the fact that it was conquered by different countries along the history. Today, Istria belongs to Croatia, Slovenia and Italy and therefore, the culture and the traditions here are combined. This might be the reason why the city is one of the most popular destinations in Croatia. The access to the peninsula can be easily made from many countries.
It is also known as the “new Tuscany” due to the Italian, strong influences in the area. The city called Pazin is the capital of Istria and the coastal city called Pula is the economic centre of the region. This side of Croatia has been developed from all of the points of view and that is the reason why it became a cosmopolitan region and the most successful in the country. Istria is a destination that will turn any vacation into a passionate experience, thanks to the rich history and the complexity of the sights that can be admired here. The tourists will observe the beautiful design of the cities, medieval-like, filled with narrow streets that are paved, just like in the ancient times.
The buildings in Istria are mostly small constructions, so the travellers will be amazed to discover a new form of modernity. The most recommended towns in Istria are Novigrad-Cittanova, Buje-Buie, Brtonigla – Verteneglio si Umag-Umago. In Brtonigla-Verteneglio the tourists will discover wonderful wineries and olive plantations, rural homes, stone houses and will be able to spend a good time during the folk festivals. The Buje-Buie region is filled with cerris, pine woods and vineyards and it hides a geological phenomenon. The travellers will be able to quietly enjoy seeing how the agrotourism works on these lands.
The region of Novigrad-Cittanova is a special tourist resort located on the west coast, having the clearer waters in Istria. There are sport and recreation facilities available, so except for the historical sights, the tourists can also enjoy a relaxing time on the beach. The region of Umag-Umago is the fourth most interesting place to visit. It is a small town known for the port that is located on the North-Western coast of the peninsula.
