Saint George is the capital city of Grenada, an island in the Caribbean Sea, neighboring Venezuela, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines and Trinidad -Tobago. Saint George is the cultural and economic center of the country. The city was built in a beautiful coastal zone, and it currently praises some of the most amazing natural harbors in the Caribbean region. Thousands of tourists come here from all over the world to enjoy the pleasant weather and the green turquoise waters.

Saint George’s landscape is miscellaneous, and it is made up of hilly formations, volcanic structures and, of course, beautiful beaches some secluded, some open to extensive tourism where people rush to perform snorkeling, surfing or book a berth online and sail.

The city’s foundation dates back to the 17th century, and it is attributed to the French colonists. In the 18th century, the British were granted the right to dominate the region, and they decided to name the town Saint George as a gratitude sign for the spiritual patron of England. Nowadays the city’s architecture and structure still preserve many traits of the colonial period.

Plenty touristic objectives make Saint George a suitable target for history and art lovers: the Roman Catholic cathedral and St. George's Anglican Church are two of the most beautiful buildings in the city, both of them dating two centuries ago. The Grenada National Museum has a vast and intriguing history; the building’s first purpose was to serve as a prison, later on, it was turned into an accommodation structure, and nowadays it hosts a wide collection of objects from the colonial period; art objects, industrial items, and whale hunting equipment.

Other beautiful objectives in Saint George are the Fort Frederick Complex, the York House, home of the parliament, the residence of the General Governor, as well as the city center where tourists can search for original gifts and souvenirs or enjoy a local fish specialty in one of the many restaurants.

Saint George’s local cuisine is spicy, in fact, the country itself praises itself with the nickname ‘Spice Island’. Curry is one of the predilect ingredients used by the locals, and one of the traditional dishes that’s worth trying is called the doubles.

An amazing touristic site is the Underwater Sculpture Park, an impressive collection of statues lying on the bottom of the sea.

The Seven Sisters Waterfalls are another place most tourists rush to visit, as well as the Grand Anse Beach, Morne Rouge Beach or Moliniere Beach that can’t be accessed by foot.
