Ponsonby Cruising Club Inc, Auckland, New Zealand

Ponsonby Cruising Club Inc is situated in Auckland, in Westhaven Marina, at the foot of Auckland Harbour Bridge. It hosts a variety of racing and cruising events, regular weekend regattas and has a sailing school. Among the area’s attractions are the Rangitoto, Motutapu and Waiheke islands to the east, where you can enjoy spectacular hikes and views over Auckland and the bay, as well as zip-lining adventures over the forests; the city center to the south, offering a wide variety of sightseeing, shopping and dining options; and the amazing Karekare beach to the west, located in Waitakere Ranges Regional Park. This black sand beach was made famous by the Oscar winning film “The Piano”. It offers excellent surf, walking and picnicking, and there’s a waterfall a short walk from the main beach area. There are a lot of activities to try around Hauraki Gulf, like cruising to see the local sea life, sailing, kayaking, diving and snorkeling at Goat Island Marine Reserve.
