La Trinité is a French commune in the Martinique department, a French overseas territory in the Caribbean Sea. La Trinité host approximately 14,000 inhabitants and it is the main administrative point of the North Atlantic Martinique region. In the 17th century, La Trinité was part of a larger establishment that comprised 5 other communes. After it detached itself from this community, the place became to flourish and the name Trinité was given by a local priest called Bolougne as a sign of devotion to the Holy Trinity. La Trinité was an important strategic point for the military forces who built two forts in this commune to defend the land against British attacks. Nowadays tourists can admire two canons that lie next to the city hall as a vestige of the previous centuries.

The commune’s economic growth is mainly due to its well-established port which offers the possibility to carry on commercial and touristic activities. Le Trinité welcomes visitors with plenty beautiful sights and cultural objectives like the Usine de Galion and Château Dubuc, two historical landmarks that account for the industrial sugar production which brought wealth and fame to this area. The Hardy Distillery is another magnetizing destination where rum lovers get a better grasp of how this beverage is produced.

Le Jardin de Bonneville offers a splendid sight for nature lovers and hikers ; the unspoiled beauty of the ecosystem is worth getting here. Another great location for hiking is Presqu'île de la Caravelle, located near Tartane, getting up here offers the chance to enjoy a magnificent panoramic view and visit the old lighthouse.

The Carevalle is another major hiking tour covering nearly 5 kilometers ; this is a natural reserve, home to hundreds of wildlife species.
