Lefkada, or Leucas or Leucadia or Lefkas or Leukas (Greek: Λευκάδα [lefˈkaða]; Ancient Greek and Katharevousa: Λευκάς), is located in the Ionian Sea. It lies between the islands of Corfu and Kefalonia. It is very close to the shores of the western mainland of Greece. The island is connected to the mainland by a long causeway and a floating bridge.

Archaeological evidence points to that Lefkas has been inhabited since the Stone Age (4th Millennium BC). According to mythology, the island was given by Odysseus father to Penelopes father as a wedding gift.
