Nelson Marinas - New Zealand

Nelson is a region located in the Northwestern part of the South Island in New Zeeland. The most prominent city in the region is Nelson where all the major economic and cultural activities are carried out. This is one of the most flourishing areas of New Zeeland due to its coastal position which makes it a recurrent destination for tourists.

The area was originally inhabited by the Māori population. In the 17th century, the first European navigators set foot on the island; these were a Dutch crew led by Abel Tasman, an explorer. In the 18th   century,  Captain James Cook also visited these parts, following the French exploration in the 19th century. In the second half of the 19th century, the British colonists established their first settlement called Nelson aiming to exploit the arable lands of the area.

Nowadays the region is a developed economic center. One of the main sources of income is the region’s tourism; along the coast, there are plenty resorts ad touristic facilities that welcome visitors worldwide. People usually come here to practice water sports, hike or book a berth and sail in the surrounding waters.  There are plenty opportunities to find a suitable option at which provides fast and easy berth booking.

Some of the most popular attractions for tourists visiting the Nelson region are: the Golden Bay and the Tasman Bay, two large bays that offer a great panoramic view and an excellent hiking exercise around the cliff formations, The Abel Tasman park is another great location where tourists can admire the limestones or take a walk down the golden sand beach. Other famous parks are: the Kahurangi National Park, where people go on trails, climb the highest peak, Mt Owen, and admire the extraordinary wild sight and the Nelson Lakes National Park where hikers climb the mountains, camp or fish.

Nelson region is also blessed with beautiful lakes that are worth visiting: Lake Rotoiti, provided with many touristic facilities, a good place to chill out or practice water-skiing and Lake Rotoroa where people can explore the beautiful surrounding forest or fish.

Boulder Bank is another popular location where travelers can observe the peculiar rocky relief made up of granodiorite.

Some of the best places for those who are passionate about art and culture are the Nelson Provincial Museum located in the Nelson city and the wearable art museum, World of WearableArt & Classic Cars Museum.

In this region, plenty beaches can suit any taste: the Cable Beach, a perfect location with peaceful waters, the Wharariki Beach with its beautiful dunes and cliff formations, the Bay beach and the Kaiteriteri Beach with its turquoise green waters are just some of the most popular destinations.
