Town Basin Marina Village, Northland, New Zealand

Town Basin Marina Village is located in the center of Whangarei town, on the eastern side of New Zealand’s North Island. Just steps from the marina you’ll find a multitude of restaurants and cafes facing the water. Whangarei is a great base to cruise around and discover the Bay of Islands, Great Barrier Island, Auckland and the Tutukaka Coast, rated as one of the top dive spots in the world by National Geographic Traveler. Located east of Whangarei, Tutukaka is the gateway to the Poor Knights Marine Reserve and the white-sand beaches down the coast. There 140 islands in the Bay of Islands, of which only the largest, Urupukapuka, is accessible to the public. An all-inclusive destination, the island features beaches, historic and archaeological landmarks, snorkeling and kayaking, restaurants and bars. Discover the Ninety Mile Beach, that stretches on the western side of the island from Ahipara to Scott Point. This beach is officially a highway (suitable only for 4x4 vehicles) with activities ranging from surfcasting and swimming to bodyboarding down the sand dunes.
