The Croatian peninsula called Istria is located between the Trieste Gulf and the Kvarner Gulf. The identity of this region is very hard to define, giving the fact that it was conquered by different countries along the history. Today, Istria belongs to Croatia, Slovenia and Italy and therefore, the culture and the traditions here are combined. This might be the reason why the city is one of the most popular destinations in Croatia. The access to the peninsula can be easily made from many countries.
It is also known as the “new Tuscany” due to the Italian, strong influences in the area. The city called Pazin is the capital of Istria and the coastal city called Pula is the economic centre of the region.
