The neighborhood

Marina Lav is located in Split.

Split is the second largest city in Croatia and, without doubt, one of the most famous seaside locations in the Mediterranean. Split is an accurate portray of the typical Dalmatian life. With a busy shore and a myriad of restaurants and cafés around it, and well-kept historical attractions, Split is anything but boring.

Split is a popular stopover for boats and yachts of different sizes as it offers good connections to other Croatian and Italian sailing destinations. The berths in Split offer generous facilities and beautiful surroundings. Marinas in Split are available in different parts of the city. You can easily get in touch with one of our agents for a marina reservation at harbors in Split.

Split’s jewel is the Unesco Heritage Site – Diocletian’s Palace, one of the world’s best-preserved Roman vestiges. Located in the proximity of the sea, the palace was a former military fortress. Inside its walls, people can roam around freely, take photos, admire the architecture or have a coffee at a bar. This is not the typical museum-like palace, which makes it one of the best gathering places in Split. On the narrow streets of the ancient fortress walls, packed with shops, cafés and restaurants, and even apartments, you will get a real feel of Split’s spirit.

The Cathedral of St Dominus is another landmark of the city. Another ancient Roman relic, the cathedral was designed as a mausoleum and it boasts some impressive vestiges including the sarcophagus of the emperor Diocletian.

The temple of Jupiter is a must-see if you love mystery. The long and intricate history of this ancient building built in the honor of the king of gods is worth knowing.

Klis Fortress, lying on the valley that precedes Split, offers an amazing view. This robust fortress guards the surrounding from a maximum height of 385 m. The building hosts a history museum where you can admire war artefacts and ancient costumes. Game of Thrones fans shouldn’t miss this attraction as it has also been used as a setting for their favorite series.

If your thing is not history, but art, then don’t miss the opportunity to visit the Meštrović Gallery. In this stunning art gallery, you can admire paintings made by Ivan Meštrović, the most famous modern sculptor of Croatia. Also, in the same perimeter, you can visit the Kaštilac fortress, where more art exhibits are displayed.

Salona is an ancient city, lying north-east of Split. The ruins of this former settlement are nowadays considered the most remarkable archeological treasure of the country. Presumably, Salona existed before 119 BC. A basilica and numerous sarcophagi are present here, among other vestiges.

Nature lovers shouldn’t leave the city without visiting the Marjan Forest Park, located in the western part of Split. This park is situated at an altitude of more than 170 m. The view from above is absolutely amazing. Moreover, during the summer, this is a great gateway from the crowded ports in Split.

As for those who just want to laze in the sun, there are plenty beautiful beaches to do so in Split.  Bačvice is the most renowned beach of the city, located in a beautiful bay. Ideal for water sports, this sandy beach is also famous among those who practice the game of Picigin.
